So we will start with the dog. Butter loves it here in Snowflake! We woke up one morning to about 2 feet of snow. It was great fun! Butter ran back and forth tearing up a perfectly beautiful blanket of snow. It was a never ending supply of balls! We laughed and giggled when the snowball would fall out of sight and Butter would dive in after it. We spent all day playing in it, mostly because we could not go anywhere in our car. We realized real fast that we need a 4X4 to live here.
I did not have a picture of Karl and I, but we love it here. It has been an adjustment, but we are finally feeling more at home. I never thought Karl would enjoy the cold weather, but he is loving his work and work is better when it is cold so I guess that is one reason to like the weather. We will see how long that last when the wind starts blowing in the spring.
I wanted to give a quick update on all the Webster kids, forgive me if this sounds a little bragadocious. I love my kids and I am so proud of how they have adjusted to our new surroundings. Here it goes -

Elder Webster is doing awesome! He has seen some beautiful country and has had some great success in the mission field! He is serving in a city called Cumberland, MD and loves it! He has been in the same area for almost six months now and expecting a transfer at the end of January.

He has been dying to have snow! This was the first time that he had actually watched it fall. They got one good snow in November and then nothing. He should have gotten snow this week, he was very anxious for it to come, I think he will be glad for it to go after he spends a whole winter out there! Oh, he is so handsome and I miss him terribly!Camron is doing pretty good here in Snowflake. #70 had an amazing football season! We loved watching and cheering him on! The football team really made him feel like he had been here his whole life! He got All Division Honorable Mention at the end of the season. He was pretty happy about that! We celebrated Senior night with him and his "mohawk"! (He told me "Mom I know it is stupid, but can I just be stupid for one day and then you can buz it off?" So we did.) I can't believe that he is a Senior already! Time is moving on!

Now that football is over Camron likes to hit the slopes as often as possible! I am regretting that we did not buy that season pass at Sunrise! He gets to work with Karl every once in a while so he can keep the snowboard fund going! He is such a cutie!

Austin is growing by leaps and bounds! He is officially taller than his mother 5'7"and if he answers the phone when you call you may not know it is him because his voice is so low. He has found another love here in Snowflake, not a girl, it is choir. He had room in his schedule and his cousins told him to take choir because that is where everyone is and he loves it! He has even had a solo or two and sounds pretty good if I might say so!

I guess I should say this is his first love. He made the JV Soccer team and he could not get enough of it! They did really well and he can hardly wait for it to start again! They are just getting ready for indoor soccer and he is giddy with excitement! He is a sweetheart!

Megan had an incredible opportunity to actually play the piano with John Schmidt. (She made a shirt with friends for his concert and then had him sign it.) It was so much fun! She is just amazing to me! I can't believe she is mine!

She loves it here in Snowflake! She got to play volleyball this year as a 7th grader and loved it! She really enjoys Jr. High and hanging with all of her new friends. She is so fun to have around!

I guess that will do it for now, I will try to be a better blogger! We love and miss all of our friends in the valley, but have enjoyed spending time together as a family and getting to know new people. We are very thankful for so many blessings! I am not sure why we have been so blessed but we feel very fortunate for all that we have recieved this year!

                                       Till next time!

Making A Move!

Well, I have thought about this for several years. I have teased my husband and then let it go so he wouldn't feel like I was unhappy. I have wondered if I would ever live close to my family again. Recently when I made a trip home I had decided that it would never happen, and I was totally ok with that! I could handle living in the valley the rest of my life and be here when family needed to come visit. We have an incredible ward family, an amazing neighborhood, I live over the fence of where my children go to school. My kids have made great friends! They are involved with good things at school! We are comfortable here!
So moving to Snowflake comes as a shock for me! In fact it still does not seem real! I need to start packing boxes and organizing but I feel numb! Camron asked us in FHE last night if this was really going to happen. I feel the same way. We decided a week ago as a family that this was right and yet it is still as shocking to write it here as it was a week ago. We are moving to Snowflake! My kids have been amazing! Especially Camron, it being his senior year and sacrificing Senior Class Vice President, football, life long friends, a good job, the lake, 1st assistant in the preist quorum, and the list goes on and on. I have watched them all go through tears and then in almost the next moment excitement. What a roller coaster ride! We are anxious to get there and get settled before school starts.
I have always thought that people who move while their missionary is gone make it so hard for their missionary, and now here I am doing that very thing! Treston will be ok, I think he is even a little jealous. He says he doesn't care because he is moving to Baltimore. I know that he has always thought it would be great to live in Snowflake. I guess it will be something to look forward to when he comes home.
We feel so blessed to have a job that will provide for our family. I even think that Karl is excited to leave work at work instead of it following him home every night and day. He has always been self imployed, so this will be a change for him too. As for me, I can hardly wait to hang out with my family, but I have so many people here that have loved and supported me through thick and thin. I don't think I will miss being the gospel doctrine teacher:), but I will miss the kind and genuine people that I call friends but have really been more like family! I know that the Lord is in control and that this is what we are to do right now. Who knows what the future holds! I am sure it too will be full of surprises and excitement!

A Good Laugh!

I am not a fan of having my picture taken so I am blogging these for history only, and I so enjoyed doing this with friends that I decided I would share. I went to lunch with my good friends Kate and Janet. Both of them are great photographers. While we were at lunch Kate had this great idea to do pictures for valentines day for our hubbies. Janet was willing to take the photos so that is what we did. I only wish we would have gotten Janet in one of the pictures, after all she is to blame for all of the sillyness. If nothing else we had some good laughs and enjoyed each others company and did get a few good pictures!

Getting together with friends is one of my favorite things to do. Kate and I both have time during the day while the kids are at school and do alot of running around. We have alot of laughs together.

In my kitchen I have a sign that simply says "Be Happy". When it all comes right down to it, through thick and thin, it is the relationships we make that matter the most and the time we spend with each other. That is when I am the happiest is when I am around the people I love and enjoy. So I sat on the couch in my room and wrote a full page. As I was re-reading I fell asleep and next thing I knew it was noon.
Started the Laundry. (That is always looming, although I find that I sometimes enjoy it.)
Now I am revamping the blog and it is already time for the kids to come home!

I remember when I used to think that I would have so much time when the kids went to school. And I really do, but somedays are just not as productive as others.

One more thing is that I keep thinking that as I get older I will need less sleep. Maybe it is just the whole teenager thing. Last night we watched BCS championship football game. It was awesome, but it became late by the time everyone got to bed. 5:30 came early this morning.

I guess that there will always be a house to clean, files to organize, drawers to straighten and things to get done. There will be days that are less productive than others, but as long as we are moving forward and keep trying to be the best we can be then it is all good. And if you need to stop and take a nap, then by all means DO IT!

HAPPY 11th day!

PHLEBOTOMY SCHOOL

So Treston has just one week left in class and then he will have four weeks in rotations. Today they had a "poking party" and invited anyone who was brave enough to come to the school and get "poked". So of course being a supportive mother I went to his school and was poked - twice - once in each arm. He was so nice the first time that I let him poke me in the other arm too. I was pleased that he did so well, and I came home and told Karl to go, so he did! I am so excited for Treston! I think he enjoys it and is happy to have something to do for the year while he waits to go on a mission. My response to him was that he was asking the wrong person! Karl doesn't really care to watch sports. He always says that he would rather be playing than watching. I think the older he gets he realizes that watching is the only option.

When I was growing up in my family of 5 girls and 1 boy, watching football is what we did. Monday night football was FHE and we loved it! I remember one specific game we were watching BYU. They were doing really well that year. I remember the scene in the living room of everyone gathered in front of the TV and something good happening and all of us girls jumping out of our seats yelling and cheering for the Cougars.

My favorite thing is to sit with my family at a Snowflake LOBO football game with homemade popcorn balls and cheer with my family.

Last night was Camron's first JV game. I had so much fun watching him! I get a little loud and excited especially when he tackles the QB or opens a hole for the ball carrier to run through! I love this game! I always wished girls were a little more welcome on the field, but then what would I have chosen? Football or Volleyball? I guess it is a good thing that was not an option.

Tonight we are going to the game for the half-time show! Austin is in the Highland Marching Band, another favorite part of the game! Austin informed us that he is going to be in the front, so we are looking forward to watching what he has been working on since July! He loves being in the band and is good at what he does! We will take pictures and post them later!

So for now, GO HIGHLAND HAWKS!

Some Things Never Change

I would have to say that the highlight of my summer was my 20 year class reunion. I totally enjoyed seeing all my high school friends. It was so fun to see these women (and men)! They have all grown up to be so beautiful! I know that they have all had their own set of trials and struggles, but they are all still the girls I knew from school. We laughed and giggled and loved seeing one another! I think we could have visited all night. I love meeting with people that you have known before and you are able to pick up right where you left off. 20 years have gone by and I am so amazed that while people can physically change they basically stay the same. I am so grateful for such good friends that helped me grow up to be the person that I am today.
I do have to pat myself on the back. I have been trying to lose weight - as most people do for their class reunion. My goal was to lose 25 lbs. We joined the gym March 22, 2010 I started running and lifting weights. I didn't think that I was going to be able to ever run again with the terrible knees that I have and I just decided to do it and come what may. When I went to my reunion July 24, 2010 I had lost a total of 29 lbs.

I started small and could barely run the mile. Last Saturday August 7th I ran 5 miles! I never in my life thought or even had the desire to run 5 miles. I don't know where this will take me, but I am going to keep going and if nothing else I will be a healthier me!

I am just amazed how fast time has flown by. Treston left for work this morning, he is working out of town for most of the month. Megan went home with Aunt Bett and my home is feeling a little empty. I am afraid that is something that is going to happen sooner than I am ready for it to happen. I am excited for the future and yet so emotional and not ready for it to be here yet.
I think that we all make the mistake of looking to the next thing in our lives and don't realize how wonderful it is here and now. I have tried for the last five years or so to just enjoy the now. I am not perfect at it because I still can't wait for the next exciting thing to happen, but I have totally enjoyed my children in their teen/preteen years. It has come so fast and I feel like it is going as fast as it came. I am helping coach Megan's volleyball team. It is going even better than I ever expected and I think I might even be addicted. I love Saturday game days and love to go to practice on Tuesdays. After swearing that we were done chasing little league sports, I find myself right in the thick of it and loving it.
I never thought that Megan would ever play volleyball. I figured that she was just going to be in the music world and not have any athletic abilities. I had secretly hoped that she might get into volleyball and like it, but I think she might even have a little bit of natural ability! Karl looked at this picture and said, "Man she threw the ball up that high and can hit it over?" That's my girl! She even got the old number 11! So fun to watch our little Red Hot team play!

New News

So as a mother of boys an advance-ment in scouting it is a BIG deal! I think it is because it is a means to an end and so much work. Last Wednesday, Austin recieved his Life rank in scouts so he is almost done and finally on Sunday night Camron passed his Eagle Rank board of review. So I now have 2 Eagles and 1 almost there. I have to say that I love the scouting program and how it helps these boys grow to be men. Camron did not like campouts so much when he first started scouts. It helped that Dad was the scout master and going too. But he learned to like it. Now when he has a campout it is no big deal. He comes home with great stories about the whole experience and what a good time he had with his leaders and friends. He has great leaders in the Varsity program. Camron is a great example to his friends, he works hard at everything he does and tries to do his best all the time. I am so proud of him for finishing through the Eagle Rank. He definetly earned this reward.

For all of you out there who struggle with the scouting program, I would just say get involved and learn the program and then you won't be so frustrated. If everyone got involved while their boys were there, it would be even more amazing. Our boys need to learn to be independent and learn how to survive and do hard things. The outings are not just for fun, but they are helping the boys learn more about themselves and just what they can do if they try. Sometimes it is going to be hard (or at least it should be) but they can do hard things - super hard things; and they will survive and be better because of it. It helps them be ready for missions and do their best as they serve the Lord. We have to raise strong men, because one of these days they are going to have to stand up for something and they might be standing alone. As you can tell I feel strongly about this, I have a testimony of the program and what it is designed to do if it is ran the way it is set up to run. As mothers we can be a huge support to both the scout and the leaders.

A new twist to our home

I just thought that I would let you all know that we are so happy to have Tiffany living with us in our home. I am super jealous of her getting to play volleyball everyday with girls that want it just as much as she does (that means she gets to play hard). I am amazed with her desire to do what is right and I know that she will do great down here once the shock of leaving home subsides. Yvette, you have done a great job! It has been all about work for a few and play for others and a little of both for the rest. We do have plans for the weekend, but everytime we mention something that we have been wanting to do, our kids say can't we just hang out here?! Am I planning on spending money that I don't need to?! If all of the neighbors would leave too, then my kids would want to go with us.
Treston suggested that instead of spending money on going somewhere why don't we just buy a couple of "go-carts" off of craig's list and that would be great. Part of me says if that is all it takes to make them happy-but then the smarter side of me says, "no Ann - where will you put two go-carts"! If any of you know me I affectionately call my garage the "pit of dispare" and believe me there is no room in the pit! Unless someone wants to buy (or just take it please!) 13 blinds for big windows, a weight set, a broken motorcycle, a broken oven, a couple of extra bikes that will never get fixed, a gate that will never be hung, a bed frame that will never be painted and whatever else you can find!
On second thought, maybe we will just stay home... and clean out our garage! Then maybe we will consider the go-carts, NOT! I'll let you know the rest of the story

Where Is Time Going?

Can you belive that it is MARCH already?! We had some yummy food, good conversation, a couple of movies and lots of treats and snacks. There is something about sisterhood that binds you together. There are no awkward moments, just laughter and a few tears and lots of understanding. I love all of my sisters so much! Each one gives me so much stregnth and support. I just feel so grateful to have them to lean on. Anyway I love you all!

A Day Late and A Dollar Short

So here it is. You can see the piano the shutters and everything all at once. (Just not the new tree outside.) I said I would post it and that was a few weeks ago, so now I can mark that off my list. That seems to be the way things have been going the last couple of weeks; a day late, and a dollar short. But I think of all the good things that have happened and then I think of others that have major struggles going on right now and I will take my day late and my dollar short and go forward with faith. As Thanksgiving is just around the corner I am so grateful for so many things, especially my family both near and far, we are so blessed to have each other. When it comes right down to it that is all there is...just us. I guess I should explain the picture a little more, Karl and Megan played a special number in church and now have been asked to play it in my mom sacrament meeting next Sunday. They have had fun learning the song together and it sounds awesome. I am excited to go home for Thanksgiving! Hope you all have a great and yummy day!

Is this really what I am getting paid for?

So I am blogging at work today. I came into work at 7:30 am and by 9:00 am I have done all that is required of me to do for the day, granted more work will come in later, but for now I am visiting with who ever will talk to me or walk through my lobby. I finally thought of my blog and remebered that it has been a while since I have posted anything so I thought I would use my time wisely and update you on the Websters.

First off I have been a little busy, we have had some amazing things happen at our house and it has caused us to do things that we really don't like or would ever want to do. For instance, we have a neighbor that is having to foreclose on his home and wanted to recover some of the money they had put into the house when they bought it and offered us his plantation shutters for an AMAZING price. So we jumped on it and had to remove them from his house and install them in our house. This meant that windows and screens had to be washed, which saddly has not been done since, well a long time. (I am embarassed to tell you how long it has been, so we will leave it at that.) So hopefully by Saturday we will be completely done with this project. By the way I have never imagined that I would have shutters in my home, but if any of you get a chance to have them I already love them and would highly recommend them!

Next we have friends that were involved with a tree nursery auction that we helped with and got in on a really good deal. We bought a big ficus tree for $150. We were told that is was a $800 tree so we were pretty excited! I dug the hole and let all the men do the lifting. Thanks to the Hamberlins for coming over to help set into place and kill the scorpions that came with it! Thanks to the Whitmores for letting us borrow the black light so we could go hunting for more and kill them all! I HATE SCORPIONS! Love the tree!

Finally we got a 6' grand piano for the best price ever! If you want to know the whole story you will have to come and see it, and I will tell you then. But needless to say it needed some TLC and Brother Christiansen to make it what it is now. It has been somewhat of a distraction for Karl, he has stayed up till midnight playing it on several nights (not that I mind) and Megan is on it every chance she gets.

I don't know what we have done to deserve these wonderful opportunities that have come our way lately, but I am so grateful for them. Karl has been so good to make time for all the work that I am putting him through in addition to his regular job or should I say jobs. I will try to send pictures when I get home later.

Going Home

So this weekend I had a chance to go "home". Yes, I still call my parent's home "home", even though Gilbert is home Snowflake/Taylor will always be home to me too. Not that I am running away from any thing, but no matter what is going on in my life I have always been able to go home and gather my thoughts and feelings and return with a new outlook and new motivation. It gives my spirit a renewed sense of who I am and what I was taught there. I am so thankful for parents who made home a heaven on earth. I hope that I am making my own home that kind of refuge for my children. I remember going back home with Karl after it had been quite a few years and just driving into the valley where he used to live brought tears to his eyes (though he would never admit to it) I know he felt feelings of being home again and a rush of memories flooded his mind. I have thought quite alot about this along with returning to our "heavenly home". Not that I am ready to go or anything like that but I think that we all feel those feelings of wanting to return when we think about our heavenly home and one day a flood of memories will come rushing back and we will remember.
Who wouldn't want to go home with things like making popcorn balls for the homecoming football game and bundling up for the game and coming home from the game to make hot cocoa to warm up, carving pumkins, bobbing for apples, going through the corn maze, homemade cinnamon rolls, Sunday dinner, apple crisp and ice cream, biscuits and gravy or french toast for breakfast, Family Home Evening with everyone, spending time with cousins and family. I love it, crave it, miss it, want it all the time!
I love the things that my children learn from their grandparents. It was windy, wet and cold Saturday while we were there and the boys were going to help take care of the lawn but we had to wait and do it all on Monday. So if you ask Camron we just played cards and watched old western movies all day, but is there anything wrong with spending time doing what someone else wants to do once in a while? I don't think anyone was hurt, and they did get to go play ball at the church for a while. Anyway, he did say he enjoyed it too. Since it was so cold it froze what was left of the garden that night so come Monday the boys and I had the oportunity to take care of the frozen plants, cut the lawn (with a riding lawn mower, that they thought was so cool) and winterize the garden spot. Austin had never harvested carrots (or beets) before and he thought that was pretty cool. If we didn't stay busy we had to have a jacket on and that gave us a taste of fall that was absolutley wonderful! Yes we were so spoiled! What a great fall break!
Thanks mom!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEGAN!

Megan is 10 years old! I can't believe that my baby is ten! We had a F&FHE (Friends and Family Home Evening) for her birthday on Monday. It was so much fun. We had about 50 people over to eat dinner and cake and ice cream. Then we had a lesson, played a game and then just visited and the kids played around until it was time to go. Megan is so cute, she was so happy to have everyone come. She wanted everyone in the family to enjoy her party so we invited families instead of just her friends. She is growing up so fast. I feel like I am going to miss something if I don't stay with it and celebrate every moment in her life.

Homecoming 2008

I thought I should tell you about Treston's first big dance. First off we had to find out what color the dress was. Treston didn't want to know what it looked like so he sent me over to check it out. He was so funny about that. Anyway we picked one tie out and almost got it, but not quite so we tried again and found one at Kohl's. I liked it better because it was better for church too, so that was a bonus. He was pretty handsome after a new tie and shirt and dad polishing his shoes. I think his feet might be done growing for a while this is the first time that he has had to polish his shoes. Before, if they ever got scuffed up enough to polish them he was already grown out of them and we would just buy new ones.

Treston had to do a scuba certification class saturday morning before their "Day date". So I decided to help him out and we washed the truck and ironed his shirt. I have to admit that I got a little teary while I was ironing. I just am amazed how fast time flies with our children. It seems like yesterday that I was kneeling on the floor waiting for him to come crawling around the corner so I could chase after him.

So anyway, Karl wanted to know what is this "Day date" stuff! When we were in High School we went to (or played) the homecoming football game ran home and got a shower and went to the Homecoming dance. This is more like Prom! I guess that means we are getting old or maybe we have now received the wisdom of our parents.

They went to the new iceskating rink here in Gilbert and then to Bahama Bucks for a cool treat and then took the girls home to get ready. They picked them up around 6:15 and headed over to the Halbert's house here in our neighborhood. We gave them a little pina colada with an umbrella and pineapple on the side and then we had fixed kabobs and rice and a couple of salads for a group of 12 couples. We did a little bit of Hawaiian decorations and it ended up quite cute. After the dance they all showed up (hot and sweaty) at our house for games and a treat.

A Little explanation

So I thought I should explain the whole MOM in the uniform thing. It is not everyday that you see both the boy and Dad and Mom in a Boy Scout uniform. My current calling in our ward is the advancement chairman on the scout committee. I was originally called to be the Duty to God specialist and then it just got bigger.

Karl is currently the scoutmaster for our ward troop and he is doing great! He loves working with the boys and pushing them along in their rank advancements as well as their merit badges. He enjoys watching them grow up right in front of his eyes. We have the boys over to our home every 3rd Sunday to have cookies and report their successes for the month for both Scouts and D to G. It has been working very well and we could possibly have about 12 Eagle Rank Advancements by February.

Last year Karl and I attended Wood Badge training together and I have earned my "beads" and Karl is just about to get his done. (He has to have them done by Oct.) He has just one left and it is half done, part of which was to lose 20 lbs. and he has lost 30. He is looking way good if I might say so myself! We enjoy working with each other. It seems to make my job easier to have him as the scoutmaster. When it is all said and done we will have spent at least 18 years in either Cub Scouts or Boy Scouts as parents, so we might as well jump in with both feet right? I guess so:)

September 13, 2008

Karl and Austin and all the scouts just got home from their adventure to Gisela. I guess there is a really good water hole there and they had a blast. So much so that Karl is wanting to take the whole family next weekend. I am not sure, Austin said that the water is pretty cold, but you get used to it they say. I more want to go to get some prickley pears. We asked the neighbors for theirs a few weeks ago and made some yummy jam and now we want to make more!

Treston has asked Natalie Stevens if she will go to homecoming with him and she said YES! We fixed a pan with Treston's name on the bottom on the inside and then baked brownies in it and cut out the word "homecoming?" and laid it on the brownies and powder sugared the brownies. So she knew that it was for homecoming and had to eat them to see who asked her. Natalie is a grand daughter to Mr. Reed, who was my Jr. High principal. Man it is a small world! She is a skinny little cute thing and Treston will make her look like an even skinnier little cute thing. Just kidding T.J. He has also got a job at R&R Pizza as of today, but has another possible offer at Laguna Cafe and he is not sure what to do yet.

Camron is just trucking along with school and stuff. He loves Highland High and has lots of friends and fun. He make the dive team along with Treston and Treston says that Camron is better than he is. It would be fun for him to stick with it.

Austin is loving Jr. High. He leaves early for Jazz Band and is loving all of it. We never have to ask him to practice he just does it on his own. He has become quite a reader. He will sit and read when I can't pay my other children to even pick up a book.

Megan is doing well. She was just sick for a couple of days but she is good to go now. She has lots of friends in the neighborhood, as do all the kids. She just started the violin today and I think it is going to be fun to watch and see what she can do with it.
